Salary: £43,473 per annum

The Opportunity
Mosaic Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an established and successful organisation with the recruitment of an experienced Territory Sales Manager.
This is a field-based role with responsibility for developing profitable sales across a defined territory covering North London, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
The successful candidate will take ownership of both new business development and existing account growth, managing the full customer relationship from first contact through to order, delivery and payment.
This role would suit a commercially driven field sales professional who enjoys building long-term customer relationships, identifying opportunities, growing accounts and working autonomously across a large geographical area.
The Role
You will be responsible for growing sales and margin across your territory by developing existing customers while proactively identifying and converting new business opportunities.
This is a hands-on sales role requiring strong territory planning, relationship building, commercial negotiation and account management skills.
You will work closely with internal sales, transport, operations and technical teams to ensure customers receive a consistently high level of service.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across the territory.
- Build strong knowledge of potential customers and key decision-makers.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and convert opportunities into new accounts.
- Proactively approach potential customers and build long-term commercial relationships.
- Maintain accurate market intelligence on prospects, competitors and territory activity.
- Deliver agreed sales, margin and new account targets.
- Manage and develop existing customer accounts.
- Identify opportunities to increase product penetration and customer spend.
- Develop promotions and commercial initiatives to drive additional sales.
- Monitor account performance and respond quickly to signs of declining business.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with customers and decision-makers.
- Maintain regular contact and provide ongoing commercial support.
- Plan customer visits effectively and maximise productive time across the territory.
- Prepare thoroughly for each customer meeting with clear objectives.
- Maintain accurate call records and CRM information.
- Report on pipeline, customer activity and territory performance.
- Work independently and manage your own diary, workload and travel.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with customers.
- Protect margin while maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Confidently communicate and implement price increases.
- Understand the relationship between price, volume and profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve margin through product mix and operational efficiencies.
- Manage the complete order-to-delivery process for customers within the territory.
- Liaise with internal teams regarding orders, delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Respond quickly to delivery issues and customer concerns.
- Maintain excellent communication throughout the customer journey.
- Provide a consistently high level of service.
- Take ownership of customer payment performance across the territory.
- Monitor accounts against agreed credit terms.
- Address overdue accounts promptly and professionally.
- Liaise closely with internal Credit Control and Accounts teams.
- Encourage appropriate payment methods and minimise bad debt exposure.
- Respond quickly and professionally to customer complaints.
- Coordinate with internal departments to investigate and resolve issues.
- Keep customers informed throughout the resolution process.
- Maintain strong relationships even when managing difficult conversations.
We are looking for an experienced Territory Sales Manager or Area Sales Manager with a proven track record in field-based B2B sales.
You will have:
- Previous field sales experience managing a defined territory or customer base.
- A strong record of winning new business and growing existing accounts.
- Experience negotiating pricing and commercial terms.
- Confidence delivering price increases and protecting margin.
- Strong account management and customer retention skills.
- Excellent rapport-building and relationship management ability.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Good territory and journey planning skills.
- Confidence working autonomously without day-to-day supervision.
- Strong organisation and reporting skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and CRM/customer databases.
- A full UK driving licence.
