Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) - with possibility of being extended/made permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:30pm
About the Role
We are seeking a professional and vigilant Security Officer to join our team in Waltham Abbey.
Reporting to the Head of Security, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for employees, visitors, contractors, and company assets. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security professional who takes pride in delivering high standards of site security, access control, and operational support.
Working as part of a dedicated security team, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the site through proactive monitoring, regular patrols, and adherence to security and safety procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Monitoring & Site Patrols
- Monitor CCTV systems and surveillance equipment to maintain continuous site security
- Conduct routine site patrols and inspections to identify and mitigate security risks
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the premises
- Investigate and report any suspicious activity, incidents, or breaches of security
- Manage reception security duties and monitor access to the site
- Welcome and process visitors in line with security procedures
- Verify identification and ensure all visitors, contractors, and staff comply with site protocols
- Conduct spot checks and enforce restricted access areas where required
- Record and maintain accurate vehicle registration logs for deliveries and collections
- Oversee the secure receipt of deliveries and visitor access
- Support emergency procedures, including fire evacuations and incident response
- Respond to out-of-hours security callouts when required
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company policies
- Maintain accurate records relating to alarms, fire drills, security incidents, and testing procedures
- Complete daily reports and administrative tasks as required
- Escalate concerns and security risks promptly to management
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective security coverage across the site
- Support management with additional security-related duties as required
- Contribute to continuous improvements in site security and operational procedures
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience within a Security Officer, Security Guard, or Corporate Security role
- A valid SIA Licence (essential)
- CCTV Licence or equivalent CCTV monitoring experience (preferred)
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Experience working with CCTV systems, access control, and visitor management procedures
- Good administration and record-keeping skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full right to work in the UK
