A long-established logistics business with strong values is currently recruiting for a Freight Forwarding Coordinator to join its growing team.
Responsibilities include:
Handling Deep and Short Sea LCL/FCL bookings, managing transport arrangements, issuing documentation (House and Master Bills), VGMs, Customs Export Entries, CTNs, T Docs, Releases & Deliveries, and Invoicing.
This role involves interaction with customers, colleagues, and all internal departments including Sales, Operations, Transport, and Finance.
The successful candidate will process all aspects of Freight Forwarding Operations from initial booking through to job completion and invoicing using the company’s order management system.
Duties & Responsibilities- Liaise with customers and internal departments during the booking process, ensuring all bookings follow company SOPs and payment terms.
- Place bookings with relevant Shipping Lines, Carriers, or Agents.
- Ensure correct export documentation is received and submitted accurately and promptly.
- Provide Shipping Lines/Carriers/Agents with instructions for Bills of Lading, VGMs, and UCR references.
- Review and approve draft Bills of Lading.
- Allocate incoming payments in the IT system.
- Ensure invoicing accuracy based on contract or spot rates.
- Collaborate closely with Transport and Finance departments.
- Ensure invoices are paid before releasing Bills of Lading or cargo.
- Contribute to the development and efficiency of the export operations.
- GCSE Maths & English (Essential)
- Degree qualified (Desirable)
- Industry-recognised shipping qualifications (Desirable)
- Experience within a freight forwarding or logistics organisation, handling sea freight shipments (Essential)
- Knowledge of customs clearance (Desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems (Essential)
- Experience using order management systems (Essential)
- Commercial awareness (Essential)
- Understanding of customs and sea freight transport procedures (Essential)
- Familiarity with company systems and operational processes (Training provided)
- Strong customer service focus
- Ability to manage workload in a busy environment
- Excellent relationship-building skills with customers and suppliers
- Effective communication and organisation skills
