We're working with a highly regarded law firm based in Harlow who are looking to appoint a Criminal Law Paralegal to join their busy and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in criminal law — particularly in Magistrates' Court and Police Station matters — who's looking to develop their career in a well-respected local practice.
The Role
As a Criminal Law Paralegal, you'll play a key role in supporting solicitors across a varied caseload. You'll handle files, liaise with clients and external agencies, and ensure that all casework is managed with accuracy, professionalism, and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing Magistrates' Court and Police Station files confidently and efficiently
- Taking detailed instructions directly from clients and maintaining accurate records
- Preparing and managing legal documentation and correspondence
- Supporting fee earners with case preparation and general file management
- Liaising with clients, counsel, and other agencies to ensure cases run smoothly
- Ensuring compliance with all legal and procedural requirements
We're keen to speak to candidates who have:
- At least 2 years' experience working in a criminal law environment
- Proven exposure to Magistrates' Court and Police Station matters
- Excellent communication and client care skills
- Strong organisation, attention to detail, and time management
- A proactive, professional approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Based within a commutable distance of West or Central Essex
- Salary up to £28,000, depending on experience
- Full-time office-based role, with potential hybrid working after probation
