Overview
Our client is seeking a Member Network & Volunteer Manager to oversee and develop their network of members and volunteers, building engagement, connection and professional community across the UK and internationally.
This is a key role within the membership engagement team, responsible for managing member activities, supporting volunteers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality events, learning opportunities and continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the activities of regional and special interest member networks, ensuring good governance, compliance, and alignment with organisational policies and strategy.
- Build strong, connected member communities by promoting collaboration, communication and knowledge-sharing across all networks.
- Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, providing advice, guidance, and administrative support to help deliver engaging and well-organised member events and activities.
- Facilitate clear communication between the organisation and its volunteer community, ensuring consistent and timely information flow.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase member participation, engagement, and satisfaction through a diverse programme of local, regional, and online events.
- Coordinate volunteer development initiatives, including onboarding, training, and recognition.
- Work with key internal stakeholders to plan and schedule a forward programme of member events and initiatives.
- Develop and manage the delivery of a varied CPD offering through events, webinars, and supporting materials (technical and non-technical).
- Monitor and evaluate member and volunteer network performance, using insight and data to identify areas for improvement and growth.
- Prepare progress reports and recommendations for senior management on key outcomes, challenges, and opportunities.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in member engagement, volunteer management, or network/community development.
- Strong project and event management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience liaising across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Confident with membership databases, digital platforms, and communication tools.
- IT literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Teams and SharePoint.
- Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Customer-focused, approachable, and solutions-driven with a proactive attitude.
- Understanding of professional or technical membership environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to new challenges.
- Keen to learn, open to feedback, and able to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Project or event management certification desirable (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, ILM, or equivalent).
- The role requires travel to events across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
- Flexibility is essential — some evening or weekend work may be required to support event schedules.
