- Description
We have a new opportunity for a qualified Accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent to manage a small finance team for an SME based in Hertford.
You will manage the finance function for the company, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and accurate, timely financial information is produced. You will monitor all financial flows, ensuring effective internal control, governance and compliance with financial accounting and reporting procedures.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Financial Control - Manage all transactional finance and accounting staff and areas, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for Sales Ledger and invoicing, Credit Control, Purchase Ledger and General Ledger; Oversee the treasury function, including all banking, investment and payment systems; Review all cash and bank reports, forecasts and reconciliations; Review and approve supplier pay-runs and ad-hoc payments
- Financial Accounting - Manage and prepare the month end accounting process and accounts within the agreed timetable; Review monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations and prepare/review the monthly trial balance and accounts file; Review regular and ad-hoc financial accounts related analysis and reports; Manage year end accounting and audit processes;Manage the statutory accounts and annual return processes
- Management information and Corporate Governance - Oversee the quality of Board pack inclusive of cost impact proposals, recommendations and final outcomes; Co-ordinate the preparation of Annual Report; Supervises that the financial records are audited and accounts filed at Companies House
- Management Accounts, Budgeting and Forecasting - Oversee the draft and final monthly management accounts to budget holders; Lead and provide accurate financial information for annual budget process and quarterly forecasting processes and any other performance reporting requirements
- Taxation - Manage all taxation requirements, ensuring all reports and payments are submitted according to taxation legislation and deadlines
- Internal Control - Reviews, adapts and oversees internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations; Carry out internal audits
Person Specification:
- Qualified Accountant, ACCA, ACA or equivalent
- Experience of working as a Finance Manager/Financial Controller within a similar organisation
- Previous experience of managing a small accounting team
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting, budgeting and auditing principles and procedures
- High level of business and financial modelling management
- Experience in technical accounting and taxation
- Hands on experience using and optimising financial accounting systems
- Ability to interpret budget, accounting and fiscal procedures, policies and regulations
- Comprehensive knowledge of VAT
- Excellent communication skills,
- Highly organised, methodical and able to meet strict deadlines
- Advanced MS Excel skills
