We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a well-established organisation based in Hertfordshire. This key appointment will shape and drive forward commercial operations in line with strategic business objectives and deliver exceptional customer service, greater efficiency and improved company profitability.
Reporting to the Commercial Director this is a strategically and operational focussed role managing Commercial Operations covering Procurement, Contracts and Tenders.
The principle objectives of the role will be to:
- Support the development of the strategy and structure for the commercial operations to support the business.
- Plan, organise and manage commercial operations to ensure timely delivery of all services providing excellent service to all internal and external customers.
- Provide commercial and contractual analysis to support delivery of improved profitability.
- Procurement of a broad range of materials and services, including management of supplier base and contracts.
Specific objectives and duties will be around; Business/Strategy, Analysis and Reporting, Costing, Tenders & Estimates, Procurement and Legal & Contractual
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in a commercial environment with responsibility for buying, contracts and tenders.
Experience:
- Strong background in commercial management/development at senior/strategic level.
- Proven experience working with internal senior team members and clients.
- Highly commercially and strategically minded.
- Demonstrable track record of developing commercial strategy/services.
- Capable of providing insightful and balanced views on business risks and issues.
- Ability to analyse business needs and conceive, design and develop innovative solutions.
- Experienced at the review of commercial contracts and terms.
- Proven ability to add value via analysis and reporting.
- Proven ability to increase profitability and drive commercial thinking/processes in a growing business.
- A strong strategic and tactical thinker, with the ability to balance the short term financial pressures of the business and long term strategic goals.
Personal Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in a relevant field of study.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to think laterally, solve problems and foster relationships.
- Passion for successfully delivering commercial services to internal/external clients.
- Proven success developing high performing teams.
