Our client is looking for a Full Turnkey & Turnkey contractor providing design, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning services for the electrical transmission industry in UK and across Europe.
They are committed to increasing their contribution to reducing the CO2 emission factor of electric power, with the aim to supporting electricity transmission and distribution grid owners manage the electricity grid as the world decarbonises.
The Project Managers role will be to support the delivery of these grid technologies in UK and potentially across Europe.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering FTK or TK, AIS or GIS projects to National Grid.
- Experience of delivering EPC (engineering procurement construction), projects in UK and potentially Europe.
- Willingness to travel and work from remote substation locations during the project execution phase.
- Knowledge of working with MS Project/Primavera P6
- Project Management
- To ensure completion of full scope of works on schedule within budget and in accordance with the clients’ specifications and procedures
- Day-to-day responsible for project deliverables and management of project teams
- Collaboration with design and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of project
- Management of the site construction and installation works, with support from the Site Manager
- Responsible for preparation of the project programme to meet the project requirements and deliver on time. Ensuring regular updates are provided to management and client
- Responsible for reviewing and assess all sub-contractor programmes
- Support tendering activities by providing project management advice especially in managing project programmes and other project management deliverables
- Working knowledge of TP135, TP137, TP188, TP106 etc.
- Ability to manage and motivate team of 20+ people, consisting of the back office, design office, site team, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ability to visit project sites, within the UK at least once a week to check progress and to update programme
- Ability to conduct H&S audits on site
- Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders, upstream and downstream
- Ability to work under pressure
- Working knowledge of NEC3 type of contracts
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications
- Member of one of the Project Management Association e.g., PMI or APM
- Commercial awareness of typical contracts undertaken by National Grid
- Responsible for management of change during the project lifecycle upstream and downstream
- Support Project Quantity Surveyor compile and assess changes on the project
Risk Management
- Manage project risk register during project execution creating opportunities
- Produce risk mitigation strategies to minimise project risks
- Continue to update lessons learned to wider project team during project execution
Stakeholder Management
- Be lead point of contact with National Grid during project execution
- Ensure positive engagement with all stakeholders and create clear communication channels
- Responsible for answering all queries/issues with the client’s representative
- Responsible for the timely preparation and reporting of all project KPI’s and financial reports
- Ensure health, safety and environmental issues are implemented and managed throughout the project to the highest standard
- Ensure the project is executed and complies with all local laws and regulations
- To support ‘Safety by Design’ particularly by addressing site delivery issues during the development and design stages of a project
- To promote a positive safety culture within the team and the sub-contractors during project execution.
