Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Operational Delivery Manager to join an organisation who are committed to promoting a cultural change towards safety standards within the Construction Industry.  The successful candidate will contribute to the development and management of systems and processes whilst developing and overseeing of the technical ‘standards’ of the framework and its systems and processes. They will also support the Strategic Lead by assisting with the development of operational improvements to systems and processes to support business growth, efficiency and stability.

  • Developing and advising on health, safety, quality and assessment (from a major hazard safety perspective)
  • Working with other departments, particularly IT/technical to develop and improve the systems, processes and technology to support companies and Assessors
  • Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement and development of the framework.
  • Manage the end-to-end assessment process, including liaison with the Assurance Team and ensuring alignment with other schemes which are aimed at raising standards within the Construction Industry.
  • Take a lead on managing relationships across schemes to ensure alignment of operational systems, policies, procedures provided under shared services
  • Coordinate and support the assessor community and the assignment of Assessors to companies wishing champion safety standards
  • Manage and develop the Assessor Management System  
  • Contribute to the establishment of, and manage and provide coordination support for the Confirmation Panel.
  • Develop and manage the mid-term review and re-assessment process for Safety Champions
  • Work with the Chief Executive to deliver UKAS accreditation for the Champions process including managing the operational preparations for the assessment
  • Contributing to and writing reports and other technical documentation e.g., Key metrics (e.g., quarterly awareness/impact reports at sector level, etc.) Board reports, service specifications, guidance notes for users of assessment portal
  • Manage, develop and grow the Learning and Excellence Hub with support from the Strategic Lead and shared services teams
  • Support the Chief Executive and Strategic Lead with presentations and webinars to industry and onboarding companies on the Safety Champions journey
  • Contributing to marketing and promotional materials and activities
  • Attending and participating in industry events
  • Undertaking and managing discrete projects as required
  • Supporting the development of long-term organisational strategy
  • Deputising for the BSF Strategic Lead

Knowledge & Skills

You will have health and safety, quality or standards setting experience preferably in a major hazard safety context, an analytical mind and outstanding project management, operations and problem solving skills.  Keys skills required are:

  • Health, safety, quality in a major hazard safety context
  • Industry Regulations, standards and accreditations
  • Thorough knowledge of IT systems and project management software.
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Operations and business administration
  • Strategic planning and organisational development
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Organisation and Problem solving
  • research and analytical abilities.

Qualifications/Experience

Essential

  • Project management qualification [or relevant experience]
  • Risk and/or health & safety and/or quality management (preferably in a major hazard safety context)
  • Accreditation, standards and/or assessment framework development and management

Desirable

  • Degree in related field business health and safety, quality, organisational development, administration, management
  • Experience in a major hazard safety industry or the construction industry
