We are looking for a Warehouse Operative for a well-established local company, this is a permanent position with plenty of opportunity to progress in the company.
This is a Monday - Friday role, 8am - 5pm in Bishop's Stortford.
Responsible for the warehouse activities, including goods in and goods out, you will report to the Group Head of Warehousing and support them in delivering the overall strategy and business objectives of the Operations team. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth running of the supply chain with the main goal of supporting the Supply Chain Management to enhance business development and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction.
Main Duties include:
- Operate the goods-in process following the procedures in place ensuring that goods are received, checked, documented and released or put away.
- Operate the goods-out process following the procedures in place.
- Transfer goods, materials, consumables and packaging as required ensuring that the appropriate paperwork is employed and the necessary checks are made.
- Assist in inventory control, to include regular stock checks, waste chemical control, waste packaging control and warehouse stock location control.
- Conduct and document any management checks as directed by Head of Group Warehousing.
- Ensure that the warehouse and yard are always maintained in a clean and tidy state. Ensure the cleaning schedule is followed to help facilitate this.
- Make sure all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, notifying the Head of Group Warehousing of any inability to meet the performance criteria.
- Follow Health & Safety polices, and procedures. The reduction of risks and accidents must be a number one priority whilst employed in the workplace.
- Report all accidents and near misses following company procedure
- Carry out any other miscellaneous jobs at the discretion of the Head of Group Warehousing.
- Communicate effectively with all sectors of the business looking to improve efficiency.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience of working in a warehouse environment
- An understanding of supply chain
- Good IT experience including MS Office
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of organisation
- Effective problem solver
- Team player
Qualifications:
- Forklift Counterbalance and/or Reach Licence
- Manual Handling Experience
- First Aider, COSHH qualification would be desirable
