This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional Arboricultural Manager, to take the lead and manage and plan all aspects of work for the Arboriculture Services Team.
Duties
- Provide technical and commercial advice, and reports to members of the public and other parties involved.
- Carry out inspections of trees in person and via third parties to check safety and condition.
- Record and manage information relating to tree inspection, produce reports and make recommendations for delivery of works.
- Ensure that all operations and service delivery are carried out in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety standards, current legislative and arboriculture regulations, particularly working at heights.
- Ensure that site conditions support and reflect good working practices. Identify and carry out appropriate risk assessments and safe systems of work. Monitor and carry out Health & Safety inspections, including those for COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented and maintained.
- Implement emergency protocols and procedures for dealing with identified hazards.
- Day to day management and supervision of the Arboriculture Services Team. Ensure implementation of the staff performance appraisal reviews.
- Be accountable for the programming and delivery of the arboriculture service and operations.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Review and develop frameworks for the tendering and implementation of new works.
- Contribute at negotiation/tender stage that contract documents reflect and support commercial strategy. Undertake costing, contribute to profitability and productivity analysis for third party tender works and business cases.
- Monitor operational and financial information and provide guidance on corrective action where necessary.
- Develop and implement Quality Management Procedures to produce quality standards, working closely with the client to ensure high-quality service.
Qualifications, knowledge and technical ability
- Minimum NVQ 4 qualification or equivalent in Arboriculture
- Knowledge of trees and arboriculture techniques
- Experience in the management of tree stock, inspections, and prioritising work
- delivery
- Knowledge and experience of IT systems
- Experience of carrying out risk assessments
- Awareness of COSHH
- Experience of performance management of arboriculture operational areas
- Experience of pre and post inspection of service delivery
- Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) (H.A.S.A.W.) and relevant codes of practice
- Able to appropriately implement policies and procedures
- Able to prepare and produce service reports (i.e. Key Performance Indicators) and technical reports (i.e. Tree Survey, Insurance Risk Mitigation)
- Able to work within Quality standards for customer contact and Codes of Practice.
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent written and electronic communication skills (including Microsoft suite)
- Full valid UK Driving Licence
