We have a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced and efficient Payroll Officer for our client who are based in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.
This is a 3 to 6 month contract so you must be available immediately and also have access to your own transport.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in payroll and be adept at using internal systems and picking up tasks quickly. You will also be used to working to deadlines and working in a fast-paced environment.
Key duties of the Payroll Officer;
- Producing accurate and complete payrolls and reports for all monthly paid employees in accordance with current legislation, policies and procedures.
- Keeping up to date with all legislation affecting payroll including PAYE income tax, NI, SSP, SMP and all other statutory deductions and adjustments.
- Liaising with Human Resources concerning the implementation of all changes to policies, procedures, pay scales and grading etc. which affect payroll.
- Training Heads of Department and others authorised to approve payroll information, so they are kept up-to-date with payroll policies and procedures - including sickness returns, timesheets, starters & leavers.
- Acting on correctly authorised information received for starters, leavers, and all other pay adjustments including P45’s, P46’s and bank details.
- Responsibility for monthly submission of RTI and helping with end of year procedures for all payrolls.
- Keeping up to date records regarding sick pay, SSP and SMP, SPP and court orders.
- Implementing data regarding Annual pay awards and salary increments and calculation of payments and deductions from salary.
- Calculating payments of annual leave increment for staff who work variable hours.
- Dealing with management and staff payroll queries.
- Preparation of the reports of the monthly calculation of Tax and NI for payment to HMRC by the due dates
- Management reporting on staff payroll data i.e. statistics, trends, departmental turnovers etc.
- Account for all cash and cheque receipts.
- Manage petty cash and imprest account reimbursement and liaise with G4S on cash collection.
- Support Finance Manager on month end reconciliations and postings.
