Access Database Developer 

Salary range is £25,000 to £35,000

We are looking for a Database Developer who has experience working with complex Access databases with a MSSQL backend. Applicant must have demonstrable experience of MS Access, MS Office Macros, VBA and Transact SQL. The position entails being responsible for the ongoing maintenance, bug fixing and feature expansion of the existing bespoke access databases.

These systems are primarily Microsoft Access applications with Microsoft SQL Server backend databases.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive specifications and gather additional information from relevant departments within the company to implement / expand on existing features within the access databases and subsequently code and document these changes.
• Support end-users with issues on the databases and fix bugs and errors.
• Contribute towards improving the overall efficiency and performance of the existing database and their processes working closely with the departments that use the applications.
• Providing assistance from time to time with business data analytics by running reports and queries as required.
• Working with the in house .NET development team to integrate public facing applications with the internal access database processes.

Essential Experience

• Demonstrable experience of MS Access, Visual Basic for Applications and Transact SQL.
• Experience working with complex Transact SQL queries and Access databases.

Desirable Experience

• Working knowledge of .NET Web applications preferably using the MVC paradigm.
• Knowledge of and adoption of clean code principles

Skills/Knowledge/Understanding

• Access / VBA / MS SQL.
• Good time management.
• High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Capable of working as part of a small team environment, being able to cope with sudden changes to project specifications.
