My client, who are a successful and well established business are seeking an experienced and assertive Procurement Manager for their site based in Bishop’s Stortford.
The successful candidate will have a proven background in a procurement role and be a strong negotiator. Having the CIPS qualification would be a distinct advantage.

Key duties;
- Manage, support and motivate the Purchasing team and be their first point of contact for any queries. Offering guidance to resolve issues in a proactive manner. This is to ensure that the expectations of them from the business are met.
- Understand the movement of goods in and out of the business, along with looking to develop both your knowledge and the knowledge of the team, to deliver a better service offering to our customers to the current and future business.
- Ensure that the Purchasing team have a clear understanding of their objectives and that they are approved. Work with the team to create development plans and prepare and deliver their appraisals.
- Authorise Purchasing team holiday, ensuring that there is adequate cover in the department.
- Structure the team and prioritise their work load as needed to maximise efficient use of time during core hours.
- Manage and build strong supplier and stakeholder relationships
- Analyse buying trends and patterns to identify improvement opportunities and cost savings.
- Supplier sourcing for new initiatives along with identifying key raw materials and review multiple source opportunities.
- Work with the Q&R department to monitor supplier performance and potential new supplier approval.
- Overseeing contracts and their management
- Price file management, along with price requests and negotiation
- Stock level management and meeting targets around stock levels and cap requirements.
- Processing and management of purchase orders from supplier through to completion and any after service actions required.
- Implement training plans as needed in conjunction with Operations standardised training structure.
- Carry out any other duties or responsibilities as identified by the Operations Manager
