An exciting opportunity to join a well-established company within the construction industry as a Design Manager.
This position would suit a motivated and driven individual with strong self-management, planning, communication skills and practical design or technical experience within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Manage incoming design information from Clients, Architects and our Designers by reviewing, acknowledging, recording and filing drawings, comments and specifications.
- Record receipts of various types of design information and distribute to relevant departments of company and design consultants.
- Review incoming designs from company designers to ensure compliance with project specification and other statutory technical requirements.
- Conduct basic checks on company drawings and schedules to ensure their compliance with requirements and distribute to 3rd party consultants/Clients for review and approve.
- Ensure timely, full and correct delivery of design information from company designers and consultants to all other departments. Record updates, obstacles and delays in design programmes.
- Oversee and action day-to-day design queries from designers and other departments of company and action to ensure timely resolving and closing out.
- Collate, check and register pre-design information from company estimating department and Clients to deliver comprehensive design packs for designers.
- Prepare weekly project by project design progress reports and reflecting task statuses on project design programme.
Requirements to Candidate
- Minimum one year’s experience working as a Design Coordinator or Design Manager within the construction environment.
- Relevant experience of working with technical and design information in construction industry based on contractor, consultancy or architectural background.
- Proven ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation
- Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
- Technically orientated/engineering background with strong connections to construction design.
- Practical experience in coordinating work of designers, consultants, engineers and/or architects to deliver final design according to project programme.
- Excellent self-discipline and task planning skills in working with large volumes of electronic design information such as drawings, schedules, registers on a daily basis.
- Proven ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise way with excellent email and telephone manners.
- Excellent computer skills especially Excel, Microsoft Project and DWG viewers are a must.
- The ability to communicate well at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
