This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, competent and detail orientated Management Accountant/Financial Controller who is seeking an opportunity where they can progress their career within a growing organisation. The role will involve managing a small team of Finance Assistants and coaching and developing them to reach their full potential.
This role will appeal to a candidate who is enthusiastic and proactive and enjoys working strategically whilst interacting with internal and external stakeholders to shape the future of the organisation.
Management Reporting
- Produce monthly management accounts for budget holders to strict deadlines, including meaningful analysis, investigation of variances and commentary on key numbers
- Work closely with directors to build their understanding of the company’s financial position and performance
- By providing constructive challenge, help directors to hold budget holders to account for financial performance
- Build strong relationships with budget holders to discuss results and support them with financial analysis and reporting
- Support budget holders in the production of forecasts and budgets. Extract key issues, financial risks and assumptions underpinning these projections
- Work with the Finance Director/Company Secretary to develop the management reporting system and the identification and implementation of new finance and job management software systems
- Prepare Trading Company accounts and reporting and train and support the commercial unit to use them to base their decisions
- Produce ad-hoc data analysis and management reports as required
Financial Accounting
- Import and extract data from external database
- Prepare appropriate balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconcile Reserves, including restricted and non-restricted funds, on a timely basis
- Prepare year end statutory accounts for the Trading Company
- Supporting the Finance Director/Company Secretary
Financial Planning
- Prepare budget templates, reforecast templates and consolidation templates
- Work with relevant budget holders to ensure realistic and accurate budget submissions and assist in the consolidation budgets submissions
- Ensure budget holders understand planning and reporting requirements, and support them in adhering to those requirements. Provide scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to enable budget holders to plan their activities effectively.
Leadership and Relationships
- Provide financial training and support to non-finance colleagues.
- Prepare and present reports to client(s) e.g. Harlow District Council and attend joint meetings
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with this role

Qualifications, Knowledge & Technical Ability
- CCAB qualified
- Technical knowledge and experience of producing management accounts for a large organisation
- Excellent IT skills including experience of using reporting tools to extract data from underlying financial systems
- Advanced Excel knowledge to macro level (including look ups and pivot tables)

Responsibilities
- Able to complete analytical reviews and present financial data in a simple, well-structured way to ensure understanding by non-finance colleagues
- Management of cash and working capital.
- Monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts, three year plans, consolidation returns and tax computations.
