We are currently looking for a Database Administrator on behalf of a very well-established client in Ware, Herts.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance, production and development of all Microsoft database services.
Responsibilities of Database Administrator- Provide helpful and effective 2nd line support for database connectivity and performance issues
- Assist with the creation, monitoring and maintenance of live development databases
- Monitor performance of database and provide feedback on its capabilities
- Assist with the set up and management of backup strategies
- Complete database updates when required
- Monitor performance of database and provide feedback on its capabilities
- Maintain database documentation as required and ensure this is noted on the system
- Maintain and administer database security access
- Perform ad-hoc backups and restores when required
- Follow relevant processes to implement database configuration changes
- Proactively monitor and respond to alerts and queries from colleagues
- Ensure that all activity is performed in compliance with the audit standards (such as; SOC2, GDPR, PCI DSS).
- Available to provide flexible support in line with business requirements
Required Skills of Database Administrator
- Proven, demonstrable interest in technology (servers, storage systems, networks, databases etc.)
- Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and disk configurations.
- Demonstrable understanding of relational databases.
Desirable Experience of Database Administrator
- Experience as a Database Administrator in a SQL Server environment
- Experience of developing packages such as Transact SQL, and SSIS
- Experience with integration of .NET applications
- Experience of administering SQL Server 2014 and onward
- Experience with Monitoring and Diagnostic tools
- Experience of orchestration tools
