A new opportunity has opened for a Newly Qualified Family Solicitor to work within our multi-office, multi-discipline legal practice. My client is now looking to recruit a Newly Qualified Family Solicitor based in Birmingham Central.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a well reputed multi-site High Street Solicitor. This will be a fantastic chance for someone who wants to develop their potential and who can show ambition.
The successful candidate will have a Law degree (or equivalent GDL degree) and some work experience in a similar role.
Your role will be to support the Family litigation team with an ever increasing and varied load of casework.
You daily responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- To manage an agreed caseload of clients, providing appropriate advice and assistance in accordance with professional standards and internal quality requirements
- Interviewing clients, taking instructions, identifying appropriate funding, including public funding, keeping detailed file notes of instructions received, advice given and any other attendances upon clients and other parties
- Provide written, telephone and office costs estimates and quotes to Prospective clients/ Introducers with a full breakdown of costs and disbursements as requested
- To actively progress the client’s matter promptly to conclusion
- Assisting fee earners with research
- Drafting applications to the court and other court documents for approval by the fee earner
- Drafting and checking statements
- Dealing with letter, fax, email and telephone communications promptly
- Attending court to issue claim forms and other legal documents and to assist at trial
- Ensuring compliance with file management
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all of the firm’s and client documentation and information
- Responding promptly and accurately to requests for information concerning case work from Partners, Supervisors and fee-earners
- Preparation of trial bundles and management of documents, including photocopying, compilation of bundles of documents, delivery of documents to court and other parties and collection
- Assisting in the preparation of bills of costs and claims for costs to the Legal Aid Agency
- To maintain accurate billing records by recording time appropriately and to promptly and regularly bill clients for work conducted
- To meet time recording, billing and other performance targets
- Deal with Advocacy work
- To comply with all statutory requirements, where necessary
