This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and inspirational Assistant to Head of Buying, to join a dynamic, progressive award winning, global organisation. This a newly created role and the successful candidate will be integral to the success of the department and the companies’ ambitious growth plans. The ideal candidate will be numerate, have a mathematical mind, enjoy analysing data, working with margins and negotiating prices. Applications will be considered from Maths Teachers who are considering a move into a commercial environment.
This individual will work with the Head of Buying to manage the team, monitor and manage the workload, negotiate orders with the office in China, document product details, manage the checking of samples and swatches and improve and implement systems to ensure consistency.
You will need to be able to demonstrate
- High degree of mathematical/numeracy skills and the ability to carry out complex mathematical calculations and equations, including profit margin and currency conversions
- Experience of managing and leading a team
- The ability to lead the negotiators and implement strategies to achieve the best possible commercial terms and prices depending on production space availability
- A logical and common sense approach
- Experience of implementing new systems
- The ability to manage a high volume of emails
- Competent planning and organising effectively
- Advanced analytical skills, able to evaluate information quickly and to work under pressure in a fast-paced and busy environment
- the ability to travel to the far east once or twice a year and have the confidence to negotiate face to face with suppliers
Experience of dealing with Far East suppliers and an understanding of the politics and culture involved, would be a distinct advantage.
