We have a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and growing organisation as a Buying Negotiator.
The successful candidate will need to have exceptional Maths ability as you will be working with complex calculations using currency conversions, margins and percentages. Maths at A Level standard would be an advantage but a high GCSE grade would be considered.
This role may require travel to China, twice per year.
Key responsibilities of the Negotiator;
- Receiving order confirmations from Sales Admin team
- Creating a negotiation strategy to be sent by email to colleagues in China office
- Based on e.g. order type, order quantity, product components
- Liaising with China colleagues to reach agreement on preferred commercial terms
- Implementing costs savings and minimising price increases
- Building and managing relationships with suppliers
- Reviewing suppliers performance through relevant KPIs
- Checking supplier invoices when required
- Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders
- Maintaining accuracy of all documentation
- Building and maintaining a record of data on prices for future reference
- Maintaining an effective email filing system
- May be required to attend market & Canton Fair in China during April / May & October
- Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks as required.
- PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Proven successful track record within a buying/product environment
- Exceptional negotiation and analytical skills
- Highly motivated, with a positive flexible approach and outlook
- Ability to work under pressure both individually and as part of a team
- Highly organised, methodical with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Thrives in a fast moving environment and enjoys new challenges
- Ability to attend foreign trips for up to 2 weeks, twice per annum if required
- High grade GCSE/A-level Maths essential
- Possess excellent PC skills – proficiency in Excel and Outlook are essential
- CIPS qualified or part qualified preferred
- Previous experience with Far East Supply chain would be an advantage
