This is a senior, full-time position as part of a small, hardworking team.

The magazine is a vital part of this brand and, like the TV programme, it is inspirational, intelligent and innovative – an essential purchase for any homeowner considering or undertaking a self-build project. The brand provides the best examples of clever residential architecture and design and self-build success. Our readers are affluent professionals and design savvy, who buy products and use the services they read about in the magazine. The monthly publication is stocked across all major retailers.
The Role
As well as commissioning and managing writers, in addition you will be expected to contribute, and a track record in writing is essential. An ability to run day-to-day production is also important and subbing experience would be an advantage.
Core responsibilities
- Commission and edit work from a range of contributors, plus build relationships with key industry names to strengthen the brand.
- Source and commission photography and copy for real-homes features and TV houses.
- Research and write relevant copy for the title including news pages, buyer’s guides, interviews and house stories.
- Support the Editor with proofreading, commissioning, editing and management, ensuring magazine deadlines are met by all staff and contributors and deputise for the editor in their absence.
- Manage extra projects and assignments as required and work on brand extensions, supplements and special issues.
- Contribute editorial ideas under direction of the Editor. Also assist with image and picture research and help the editor source front cover images.
- Work closely with marketing, advertising and digital teams to ensure consistency, efficiency and effective communication.
- Attend events, trade exhibitions and client meetings to obtain partners for the title and maintain positive relationships with relevant PRs.
